Hilda Alice Engelbert, age 100, of Gloversville, NY, passed peacefully into the presence of the Lord on April 12, 2026, at Nathan Littauer Hospital following a sudden illness, with her family by her side.
Born April 3, 1926 in Brooklyn NY. Hilda was the daughter Edward and Pearl Gunderson of Fort Ann.
She was joined in Holy Matrimony to William T Engelbert on April 15, 1950. They settled in Copiague NY on Long Island to raise a family. After her husband passed away Hilda moved to Saratoga Springs. She also lived in Fort Ann to care for her mother and lived with her son John in Granville.
Hilda was employed at the former St John Neumann Residence of Saratoga Springs as a Cook.
Hilda was an avid League bowler for many years. In her later years she would challenge her Grandson to bowling on the Wii console. Beating him on several occasions. As a hobby she enjoyed cross stitching. She especially enjoyed her trips to the Saratoga Casino with her son John or her daughter Ann. Recently she occupied her time listening to audiobooks or playing video games on her tablet.
Hilda is predeceased by her husband William T Engelbert, her parents Pearl and Edward Gunderson, her brother Edward J Gunderson, a sister Ellen (Peggy) Sherman, a son John Engelbert, and Grandsons: Dustin Barnes and John W Brown.
Hilda is survived by her brother Gustave Gunderson (Grace) of Hephzibah, GA, a daughter Ann Beagle (Terry) of Gloversville NY, her son William E Engelbert of Albrightsville, PA., Granddaughters, Teresa Brown of Gloversville NY, Joni Warner (George) of Perth, NY, Melinda Kinney (Tim) of Powhatan, VA, Danielle Gutierrez ( Adam) of Smithfield VA, Kristin Warner (Kareem) of Mechanicsville, VA., Grandsons, Andrew Beagle of Gloversville, NY, Joseph Engelbert (Amy)of Albrightsville PA, and Andrew Engelbert (Raksaya) of Virginia Beach, VA .
She is also survived by seventeen Great Grandchildren, four Great-Great Grandchildren. Also survived by Edgar Bousley III her foster Grandson and several nieces and nephews.
There will be no viewing hours. Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Maplewood Cemetery, corner of Weibel and Louden Road, Wilton, NY.
