Heather Darrigo-Hufford, age 67, passed away in the home that she cherished on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of her daughter Danielle.
Born on August 8, 1958, in Norwich, Connecticut, Heather was the treasured daughter of the late Beverly F. Elmer and her loving stepfather, Daniel R. Caruso.
Heather spent many dedicated years working as a Customer Service Representative with NY Telephone, where she was known for her joy in caring for the people she served. Later, she embraced a new path as a Realtor, a role that allowed her to connect with families, guide them into new beginnings, and share in some of the most important moments of their lives. In addition, she took great pleasure in volunteering for Hospice and the Girl Scouts.
Above all else, Heather’s deepest joy and purpose in life was being a mother to her beloved daughter, Danielle. She often said that motherhood was the greatest privilege God had ever given her. Their bond was woven with love, laughter, support, and countless cherished memories; moments that Danielle will forever hold close to her heart.
Heather was a woman of many passions. She found serenity in gardening, joy in fishing, and endless creative expression through crafting and woodworking. She was known for her beautifully decorated cookies; little works of edible art that she made with love and shared generously. The Christmas season held a special place in her heart, and she delighted in
creating warmth, beauty, and celebration for those around her. Animals were drawn to her gentle nature, and she adored each of her animal companions throughout her life.
A true lover of the outdoors, Heather found her peace in nature. She was an avid wildlife enthusiast who cherished time spent hiking through Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, breathing in the quiet beauty of the trails. Her cabin on Lewis Mountain was one of her most sacred places; a haven where she felt connected to God, nature, and her own spirit.
Family was the cornerstone of Heather’s life. Her love for them knew no limits, and she poured her heart into every relationship. She will be remembered for her kindness, her strength, her creativity, and the way she made every gathering feel special simply by being present.
Heather is survived by her former husband and caregiver, Vincent Darrigo; her cherished daughter, Danielle Darrigo; her brother, Sean Caruso (Christina Crosa); her sister, Nicole Pfeifer (Alexander), her constant feline companion Fergus; and a circle of friends who will deeply miss her compassion, her warmth, her humor and her beautiful soul.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Hufford, and her mother, Beverly Caruso.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025 at Greenridge Cemetery, 17 Green Ridge Pl, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
