It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harvey B. Hale, 70, of Saratoga Springs, NY, who passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 27, 2025.
Harvey was born at home, in Queens, New York, on November 15, 1954, to the late Alvin Hale and Annareta Peterson Brown. He grew up with a deep love for rhythm and blues, classic films, sports and the outdoors. He loved spending time at the Saratoga Library, reading books, newspapers, journals, and magazines. He loved learning new things. He especially enjoyed playing basketball on the south side with longtime friends who affectionately referred to him as “Julio”. Harvey’s greatest joy was spending time with his family’s younger generation. His kindness was quiet but powerful, shown through small acts of love. Family, friends, and acquaintances all knew him as a friendly and charming person. He formed deep and lasting memories with whomever he encountered. Many would see him relaxing, walking or riding his bicycle around Saratoga Springs. Harvey was a cherished father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Harvey graduated from Saratoga Springs High School and began to work in the community. Harvey was a dedicated Saratoga Racetrack employee. There he worked as a cook and in the winner’s circle. He also worked for local hotels and eventually started working for the city of Saratoga Springs in the Department of Public Works.
