Harold Marns, age 82, peacefully departed this world on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Washington Center in Argyle.
He entered this life on February 14, 1941, in Fort Edward, NY, as the only child of the late Lawrence Marns and Pearl Vaughn Marns.
In his teens, he purchased what would be known as The Marns Farm. He was a respected dairy farmer for many years, passing on his passion for agriculture and his strong work ethic to his family. After farming he went to work for his brother-in-law at Ridin-Hy Ranch. There he made many friends and earned the moniker “Most Valuable Employee”.
When not working he enjoyed snowmobile riding, woodworking, hiking with his family, and making special memories for his children, including camping in the front yard, flooding the barnyard and hanging a spotlight for night skating, and building snow forts. He and his wife were able to do some traveling with trips to Maine, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Florida before his decline in health. Recently his biggest joy was visits from his great grandson Kaden, who called him “No Feet”.
His family is comforted in the knowledge that he is walking God’s golden roads on strong legs.
Harold is survived by his devoted wife, Ella Beadnell Marns, and their children: Ida Williams (Jeff), Heather Havens (Keith), Carol Farrell (Dean), Albert Marns (Donna), Phillip Marns (Kerry), and two daughters from his first marriage, Debbie Barker and Donna Stark. He also leaves behind his cherished grandsons: Korey Havens (Savonnah), Marcus Marns, Trenton Marns, Connor Marns, Christopher Farrell, Tanner Marns, his step-grandchildren Dean G. Farrell, Tom Williams, Liz LeClaire, great grandson Kaden Havens, his brother and sister in-laws and many nephews and one niece.
He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Pearl Marns, his in-laws, Mike and Rita Beadnell, his brother in-law, Peter Marcantonio, his brother in-law and friend, Mark Beadnell, niece, Trisha Beadnell, nephew, Ethan Beadnell, and several cousins.
In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made in Harold’s honor to the Agricultural Stewardship Association, Greenwich, NY or the American Diabetes Association.
A celebration of Harold's life will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. at the Kingsbury Baptist Church Parish House, located at 1790 Church Rd, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
His wife and children would like to extend their gratitude to the entire staff at Washington Center in Argyle for their care and kindness over the past six years.
