We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Compassionate Funeral Care Inc.
Geraldine Rose (Caruso) Gregory passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 8th, 2021 at the age of 85.
Geraldine was born on November 23rd, 1935 in Albany,NY to Alfred and Helen Caruso.
She attended and graduated from St. Anne's Catholic School. Geraldine was a very devout Catholic and at an early age strongly considered becoming a nun. As fate would have it, she went on a blind date with Daniel Gregory and eventually the couple fell deeply in love and were married on October 23rd,1956. They went on to have four loving children, who were always the light of their lives, and moved from Albany to Ballston Spa in 1969.
Geraldine always loved going to Atlantic City, NJ when younger and that quickly became the family vacation spot for the Gregory's every summer. When the kids grew older, and Atlantic City became a casino gambling mecca, the Gregory children and their many friends all fell in love with going on trips to AC with Gerry and Dan. Gerry eventually was affectionately referred to as Gerry The Yo by all of her children's friends. For those who don't know, "Yo" is a term for an eleven rolled on a dice table in a casino. She loved the nickname and the fact that her incredible sense of humor continuously entertained her family and friends. The legendary Christmas Brunch at the Gregory Home on Red Coach Trail became a yearly must attend for all who were ever fortunate enough to get an invite. People of all ages just simply felt incredibly comfortable around Gerry The Yo. Among Gerry's favorite hobbies were cooking the most amazing corned beef ever, dancing, and singing.......even though she loved to bring up the fact that her chorus teacher in high school insisted that she lip sync or be removed from the chorus. Gerry was pre-deceased by her parents, Al and Helen, and her younger brother Buddy. She is survived by her loving and adoring husband of almost 65 years, Daniel, and her children Dan (Kathy), Jimmy (Dianna), Donna (John) Richardson and JoAnne (John) Ryan, as well as her cherished grandchildren Meghan Gregory (whom Gerry always referred to as her "best friend") and Danny Gregory (Alyssa) and her great granddaughter Gracie, in addition to several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Sunday, June 13th at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs NY.
A mass service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 14th at St. Mary’s Church 167 Milton Ave, Ballston Spa, NY 12020.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated in Geraldine's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
