Gerald H. Farney

Gerald H. Farney, age 56, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital.

He was born on December 21, 1964 in New Hartford, New York, son of the late Roger J. Farney Sr., and Gwendolyn J. Appley.

Jerry graduated from Holland Patent Central School in 1983 and went on to SUNY Cobleskill where he graduated in 1985 with a Culinary Arts degree.

Jerry worked as a chef for many years at various restaurants throughout Saratoga and the Adirondacks. His first job as a chef was at The Sagamore Resort on Lake George.  He enjoyed traveling, working in his yard, snowmobiling, bowling and barbequing by his pool for his friends and family.  Jerry had a strong work ethic, which he developed in his younger years while working long hours on the “Farney Farm”.  One of his favorite past times was watching “The Price is Right” and traveled to Los Angeles in 1997 for a filming of the show.  While on the show, his partner David was selected as a contestant who made it all the way to the final Showcase.

Jerry is survived by his life partner of 33 years, David DeLoriea and David’s siblings Tim DeLoriea, Ronald DeLoriea, Kathleen Fitzgerald (Scott) and Lori Chamberlain (deceased).  Jerry is also survived by his siblings Roger Farney Jr. (Cindy), Deborah Hardie (Mark), Scott Farney (Chris), Lawrence Farney (Mary Jane) and Sandra Farney as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs, New York with Father Thomas Chevalier officiating.  Family and friends may call from 2 pm to 4 pm prior to the service.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Greenridge Cemetery in Saratoga Springs.
