Gerald R. Carter, age 69, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Wilton, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on April 12, 1956, in Saratoga Springs, NY, Gerald was the son of the late Gerald Carter and Madeline (Rethman) Carter. From a young age, he developed a talent for understanding how things worked, a gift that naturally led him to his lifelong career as a mechanic. Gerald was known for his strong work ethic, steady hands, and the satisfaction he took in helping others keep their vehicles running safely.

Beyond his work, Gerald treasured the simple joys of life. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace in nature, whether hunting, watching the seasons change, or feeding the wildlife that often gathered near his home. These quiet moments brought him both comfort and pride, reflecting his gentle, observant spirit.

Gerald’s greatest love was his family. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Carter; daughters, Shannon Fernett and Sarah Locke (William); stepsons, Allen Williams III (Elizabeth) and Brandon Williams; stepdaughter, Heather Williams; brother, Jimmy Carter(Sherri); sister, Eilleen Dingman(Mike); brothers-in-law, William Keenan; Gregory Keenan; and sisters-in-law, Cheryl Stepaniuk, Gail Keenan, Kelly Tria and Heather Wright. He was Pop to eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember him for his humble heart, quiet strength, and unwavering kindness.

In addition to his parents he is also preceded in by his brothers, William Carter and Gary Carter.

There will be a Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be announced at a later date in the spring of 2026.
