George J. Rowland Jr.

George J. Rowland Jr. (Johnny Rowland), age 64, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital.

He was born on January 5, 1959, in Saratoga Springs, NY the son of the late George H. Palmateer Sr. and Sandra (Blakesley) Palmateer.

He was owner/operator of Rowland’s Tree Service in Greenfield Center, NY.  John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, visiting car shows and swap meets, and restoring old cars and trucks. John could typically be found in his garage working on anything and everything or just talking with friends about old times.  He was always willing to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his girlfriend of more than 25 years, Willa Bertrand, who never left his side; daughter, Christeena Rowland (Bill); son, John Rowland (Jennafer); grandsons, Douglas Rowland, Terry Welden, Joseph Welden and Mark Welden; granddaughter, Vivian Rowland; brothers, Harold Thomas, Dale Palmateer, Andrew Palmateer (Tracey), Michael Palmateer (Bobbie-Jo); sisters, Dorothy Preece (William) and Sandra Bushey (Michael); sister-in-law, Darlene Palmateer; many nephews, nieces and friends.

John is preceded in death by his brother, George H. Palmateer Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, March 10, 2023 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue, (Rte 9 and/or Marion Avenue) Saratoga Springs, New York.  Family and friends may call from 3:00 to 4:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
