Gail Flanders

Gail Flanders, age 76, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born on February 7, 1947 in Ballston Spa, NY, the daughter of the late William Brower and Shirley Smith Brower.

Gail graduated from Ballston Spa High School (High School Diploma).

Gail was a bus aide for the Saratoga Springs City School District for just under 25 years, making friends of many coworkers.

Gail enjoyed nothing more than her family. Christmas’s, Thanksgivings, Easters, July 4th Celebrations: all took haven at the “House of Gail” where the only things better than the delicious food she made were the smiles she brought to the people she loved. She was the epicenter of the family; the glue that held it together. Gail loved to have fun with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren playing various games such as Phase 10, Uno, and Skipbo, enjoyed a game of poker with her husband and friends, and would take joy in going to Bingo night when she was younger. However, in her loving nature, she hated to lose: a characteristic that would, indeed, run in the family. Gail also loved her animals, of which she had numerous over the years. Dog or cat, she could not be without a companion to make the home more lively and extend her loving reach to another soul. But the thing Gail loved the most was bringing people together, and the growing, loving family that she created is evidence of that.

Gail is survived by her sons, Gilbert D. Flanders, Rodney H. Flanders (Cindy); daughter, Shirley Peterson (Andy); brothers, James Brower (Renee), Billy Brower; sisters, Lynda Ennello, Janice Wagner; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren (7), great-grandchildren (8), and friends who will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert W. Flanders, her son, William T. Flanders, and her brother, Don Brower.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. 

Family and friends may call from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon prior to the service at the funeral home.

A graveside service will be held at Greenridge Cemetery, 17 Green Ridge Pl, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 following the service at the funeral home.
