Emma Marissa McTiernan

Emma Marissa McTiernan (Pond) (McGee), incredible mother & friend to all, passed away suddenly in the early hours of November 8, 2023, due to complications experienced during childbirth.

Emma was born on January 29, 1987, in Lima, Peru. Shortly after, she was adopted by her mother Kathleen Ann McGee (her hero) and brought to live in Saratoga Springs.

It was Saratoga where Emma truly called home. She graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 2005 and attended SUNY Cobleskill and Adirondack Community College. In high school, she competed as a gymnast and was a cheerleader. At the time of her death, she was a Field Sales Representative at SSB Serta Simmons Bedding.  Prior to that, she was Personal Banker for Key Bank in Delmar, and a store manager for Mattress Firm in East Greenbush.

She was predeceased by her mother Kathy, her grandparents Richard and Olga McGee, and her aunt Mary Frawley. She is survived by her children Jack Pond and Finn Murphy McTiernan, her husband Joseph McTiernan, her brother Luke McGee, her extended family on the McTiernan side- Ariel Kraeling (Brandon), Meghan McTiernan, Caitlin McTiernan, Eileen McTiernan (Joseph), her uncles Bob Frawley (Marilyn), Dick McGee (Sally) and Mike McGee (Paula), and 5 cousins and their children. She is also survived by her former husband Mike Pond and his family, and her friends Kathryn Starczewski Browne-Lörcher (Conrad), Kevin Karr-McGraw, and Carlin DeMarinis.

Anyone who knew her would testify to her fabulous smile, love of music, selflessness and vibrant personality.  She seemed to be happy all the time, and she made you feel good just being around her. No words can express the loss felt by her family and friends. We can only find solace in that her two sons carry her spirit wherever they go.

The family is planning a celebration of life event to be held in early 2024. Date and location to be determined.
