Elizabeth "Betty" Watkins

Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Watkins, 73, of Saratoga Springs, NY, passed away on November 2, 2024, after a long illness. Born on September 1, 1951, to Charles and Naomi Youmans, Betty grew up in Schuylerville and attended Schuylerville Central School.

Betty dedicated her life to caring for others, working as a homemaker and daycare provider. She lovingly opened her home to many children over the years, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives.

On September 16, 1973, Betty married Paul R. Watkins, sharing 28 years together until his passing on April 4, 2001. Their bond was one of love and devotion.

Betty was an active member of her community, participating in the Victory Mills Fire Auxiliary, General Schuyler Auxiliary, the American Legion, and the Schuylerville and Wilton Seniors groups. She enjoyed bowling and was a passionate bingo player, always cherishing the friendships and joy these activities brought her. Her greatest joy was the love and cherished moments she shared with her grandchildren, who lovingly called her “Grandma Boop.”

Betty’s warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family and community will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She is predeceased by her parents, husband, Paul Watkins, siblings, Charles, Timothy and Linda.

Elizabeth is survived by her daughter Theresa, her husband Shawn and their children Cody, Lucas and Julianna; her son Ray, his wife Autumn and their children Aiden and Lexi; brothers Greg and Bobby; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended families. Many friends near and far.

Family and friends are invited to gather for calling hours from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, November 8, 2024, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Route 9/Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

A burial will take place in the Victory Mills Cemetery.
