Edward R. Knapp

Edward R. Knapp, age 88 passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 at the Warren Center in Queensbury, NY.

He was born on June 13, 1935 in Albany, New York, son of the late Edward Knapp and Helen Harris Knapp.

Edward was a Police Sergeant in the Albany area for many years. He gave everyone and everything his all. He was brave, devoted, fearless and selfless, always upholding his oath of duty and loyalty to protect.   Edward was an avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, fly tying and hunting. 

Edward is survived by his beloved wife Jeannette of 65 years; daughter, Kimberly King (David); sisters, Janet Dunn (John), Katherine Harris; many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his son, Phillip Knapp; brother, Gerald Knapp; sisters, Susie Hitchcock and Donna Terry.

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, 2023 Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave., (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY.  Calling hours will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Interment with military honors will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871
