Edward O. Cook

Edward O. Cook, 77, passed away on June 9, 2025 at his home.

He was born on August 7, 1947 in Saratoga Springs, NY to Harold and Hazel (Cowles) Cook.

Lovingly known as “Ned,” “Uncle Ned,” and “Poppy” to his beloved grandchildren, he will be remembered for his warmth, enthusiasm, and love of life. A true car enthusiast and devoted Jeep lover, Ned also had a deep passion for history, particularly that of New York State.

During his time as a resident at Embury, Ned formed many cherished friendships. He enjoyed participating in weekly trivia, cornhole, bocce ball, shuffleboard, and sharing frequent lunch dates with friends. His dedication to service was evident through his volunteer work with the New York Guard in the 1980s, where he combined his love for military history with his commitment to the community.

Ned’s sociable spirit touched everyone he met. He delighted in striking up conversations, always eager to learn more about those around him — especially fellow Saratogians, many of whom he recognized from his school days.

Edward is survived by his daughter’s Kelly Ann (Cook) Fisher and Kari Lyn Cook; sister Christina Von Seggern; nieces Catherine Roof, Margaret Von Seggern and nephew Edward Von Seggern; grandchildren Paige Russell, Nathaniel Rost, Tyler Fribourg, Ethan Fribourg and Laina Tourellot.

He is preceded in death by his sister Maxine Goodness and nephew Guy Goodness.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
