Edward J. Caples, age 63, passed away on Saturday August 10,2024 at his home surrounded by his loved ones, following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on April 16, 1961, in South Glens Falls, New York, the son of James and Joan Wible Caples. Ed graduated from South High and attended Adirondack Community College.
All that knew Ed, knew he was a family man through and through. We mean the world to him. His everything. He had 2 families thou- his Sysco Foods family with a 30 plus year career starting as a driver in the 80’s and then holding multiple positions in upper management. You always knew where you stood with Ed Caples. The most honest, straight shooting, caring, positive, compassionate person you will meet in your life. Many friendships culminated because of these traits.
Pages and pages could be written about Ed and his life, hobbies, and passions. However short and sweet- if you had the pleasure of knowing Ed- your life is fuller, as it has been forever enriched.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lisbeth Caples, his son Devin Caples, his daughter Michaela Caples, his sisters Cindy Potter (James), Kathy Rourke (Tom) and Colleen Vantassel (Alan), his brother and sister in laws Jack and Kathy O’Brien, Maura Gallo, Kevin and Phyllis O’Brien, Karen and Ed Eastman, and Andrew and Laurie O’Brien as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog Otis. All who will miss him dearly.
He preceded in death by his parents, his brother James Caples, his nephew Michael Potter, and his in-laws the late John and Janice O’Brien, and his brother-in-law Joe Gallo.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, New York. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. NO SUITS/SOMBER DRESSING/NO TIES- EXCPET TIE DYE – CASUAL. Please come even in shirts and shorts- this is Ed Caples as we knew him. Burial immediately following at St. Mary’s/St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Fort Edward, New York. A celebration of Ed’s life will be held immediately following at the Caples home 10 Harvest Lane, Wilton, New York. All are welcomed.
