Edith DeConno, 79, passed away peacefully on January 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on December 24, 1945, in Ogdensburg, NY, to John and Anna Wicks, Edith dedicated her life to education and family. She was a beloved teacher at the Saratoga Springs City School District for over 30 years. Outside of the classroom, Edith enjoyed traveling, was an avid golfer, and cheered passionately for the New York Giants.
Edith is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, James DeConno; her daughters, Kimberlee McGourty, Wendi Kerls (Sean), and Amanda Burchill (Matthew); her sister, Carol Mills (Steve); and her brother-in-law, Alan DeConno. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Arleen Meres, Bonnie Carl (David), and Linda Brannigan (A. William); her cherished grandchildren, Mark McGourty, Jessica McGourty, Connor Kerls, Liam Kerls, Cameron Burchill, Avery Burchill, and Logan Burchill; and her great-grandchildren, Brayden Buchholz, Logan Slade, and Carter McGourty.
She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters-in-law, MaryEllen Bouchey and Jackie Stebbins, and her brother-in-law, Bruce Roberts.
A funeral service will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY.
Calling hours will be from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871
