Dorothy E. Kritz

Dorothy E. Kritz, 75, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 1, 2025, at her home, surrounded by the love and comfort of her husband.

Born on June 26, 1950, in Schenectady, NY, Dorothy was the daughter of John James Lanahan Sr. and Margaret (Collins) Lanahan. She grew up with strong family values, a kind spirit, and a gentle heart that she carried throughout her life.

Dorothy dedicated many years of service as a Computer Programmer for New York State Tax and Finance.

Dorothy loved to travel. Dorothy and Matthew visited all 50 states and many foreign countries. She was an avid birder. She had over 600 birds on her Birder’s Life List.

Dorothy loved her family. She was a devoted wife, a loyal sister, and a gracious presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her warm smile, gentle humor, and thoughtful nature will be deeply missed.

She is survived by her loving husband, Matthew Kritz; her brother, John James Lanahan Jr.; her sister, Eileen Riley; her niece, Suzann Cornell and her husband, Art; her nephew, Kevin Serapilio and his wife, Kris; her nephew, Richard Serapilio and his wife, Maggie; her nephew, Sean Lanahan and his wife, Taylor; her cousin, Marie Gandron and great nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Kathleen Cram.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY.

A funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Immediately after, a graveside service will take place at Greenfield Cemetery, Wilton Road, Greenfield Center, NY.
