Donald S. DeLaMater Jr, age 68 passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home in Schaghticoke, NY on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Born on March 9, 1958, in Ballston Spa, Donald was the eldest son of the late Donald S. DeLaMater Sr and Barbara A. Teeling. Don is a decorated veteran who honorably served for 10 years in the United States Army.
Don was a hard working, talented Christian man who dedicated many years of service as a suess chef at Saratoga Casino Hotel, where he became known not only for his culinary skills, but also for his warm personality and strong work ethic.
Don had a true passion for life's simple pleasures like fishing, bowling, and playing cribbage, Don was a gentle man but a fierce competitor.
Donald was known by many for his love of cooking, playing chess, and sharing laughs over a game of pool also showing his amazing left hook when Bowling in competition matches. Don was one of those guys you couldn't help to love. He had a spirited personality, a kind heart, and a way of helping those around him feel welcomed and appreciated.
Don is survived by his loving brothers, David S. DeLaMater 2nd, (Mary June Marchewka) and Darryl B. DeLaMater, his sister, Bonnie R. Dyke (Robert); along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever miss him dearly and treasure the memories they shared with him.
In addition to his parents Donald was predeceased by his beloved wife, Lori J Dellea DeLaMater, whose memory he carried closely in his heart ❤️
The family wishes to extend much gratitude to the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center, Washington County VA Services, NYS Office of the Aging and last but not least the wonderful, caring individuals/team at Community Hospice. Thank you all!
An internment with military honors will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 4th, 2026 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY, 12871.
