Donald D. Colosimo, age 81, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Ellis Hospital.
Donald was Born on June 9, 1940 in Detroit (Wayne County) MI, the son of the late Edward Joseph Colosimo and Jennie (Ziaja) Colosimo. He married Donna Louise Glinski in Gardner, MA on his birthday, June 9, 1962; they met at Phi Kappa fraternity at a pledge party in September 1959.
Donald enjoyed hiking, backpacking, hunting and fishing with his grandchildren. He shot in various pistol leagues and ran the Bulls Eye league for 6 years. He also enjoyed traveling to the Caribbean and other places, most of all Italy and visiting the birthplaces of his Italian grandparents in Petroná, Calabria and his Polish grandmother in Jawornik Polski, Przeworski. Donald enjoyed scuba diving in the best spots in the Caribbean and the Great Barrier Reef of Australia. His most memorable dive was in the Barrier Reef on Steve’s Bommie. He joined the Boy Scouts when Marc joined as a Wolf. He Served as Cub Master, Webelo leader, Assistant Scout Master, Scout Master, Unit Commissioner, Camp Visitation member, on staff for the Klondike Derby and OKPIK winter camping training. He was a charter and 3 rd Degree member of the Niskayuna Knights of Columbus and was a current member of the Saratoga Springs Knights of Columbus.
Donald is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Glinski Colosimo; son, Marc Colosimo (Lynn VerPlank); daughter Lisa Colosimo (Scott McCabe); brother-in-law, James Glinski (Susan Deniston); grandchildren, Meghan McCabe, Mara Colosimo, and Scott McCabe; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss his humble spirit.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY. Family and friends may call from 12:00 pm to 2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 6, 2021 at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 150 West Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
