Dolores C. (Pruyn) LaPointe

Dolores C. (Pruyn) LaPointe, age 90, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital with her family by her side.

She was born on August 31, 1933 in Huntington, NY, the daughter of the late John C Moran and Hanorah Fleming Moran.  She was raised in Brooklyn NY, eventually graduating from St John’s University in 1955.

After meeting her first husband Hendrik (Hank) Pruyn on a cruise ship, they married in 1957 and she relocated to the Albany area.  They quickly had 4 children and Dee dedicated her life to her role as a homemaker.  She was widowed suddenly in 1968, leaving her to raise her family on her own.  The home on Upper Loudon Rd was a warm gathering place where she loved to entertain. She loved her backyard, birds and gardens.  Many a child learned to swim in that swimming pool, and play ping pong in the basement.  She avidly read the newspaper and books, watched the news and classic movie channels.  She had strong political opinions and was happy to share them.  Her welcoming nature meant her home was always open to anyone seeking comfort, conversation and companionship.  In 1980, she wed Norman LaPointe, and they were married for 37 years.  In 2016, after 49 years on Upper Loudon Rd, they moved to Prestwick Chase in Saratoga, where they found a wonderful community and many great friendships.

Dee is survived by her daughter, Carrie Kronick (Steven), and her sons, Hendrik Pruyn Jr. and John Pruyn.  Grandchildren Angeline (Dan) Marinucci, Andrew (Liz) Pruyn, Christiane (Sanjay) Sekar, Zachary Kronick, Schuyler (Andrew) Larson, Julia Kronick, Hendrik Pruyn III, John Pruyn, and Adam Kronick.  Great-grandchildren Mason, Maxwell and Madison Marinucci, Marco and Lorenzo Sekar, and Ella Pruyn.  Also several nieces, nephews, and cherished friends who will fondly remember her.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Hendrik Pruyn (1968) and Norman LaPointe (2017), as well as her eldest daughter, Victoria Pruyn (2019).

A funeral service to honor Dolores's life will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2023, at Compassionate Funeral Care, located at 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Prior to the service, there will be calling hours from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

A graveside service for family is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Pine View Cemetery, 21 Quaker Rd, Queensbury, NY 12804.
