David G. Sims

David G. Sims, age 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Albany Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

Born on January 13, 1953, in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Donald C. Sims and Frances Walsh Sims.

David proudly worked for many years as a Locomotive Engineer with CSX in Selkirk, NY, before retiring. A true outdoorsman, he cherished time spent camping and fishing with those closest to him. He had a deep appreciation for country music and was often seen enjoying his favorite songs with a smile. A loyal Yankees fan and an even louder Bills supporter, David could always be heard cheering, “Go Bills!” Above all, his greatest joy was the time he spent with his beloved family and friends.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph M. Sims (Danielle), David Sims (LiMessa), and Daniel Sims; daughter, Jamie-Marie Shiner; stepdaughters, Tanesha Corlew (Jack), Barbara Senn (Eaton), and Kyral Eaton (Deshi); stepson, Frederick Eaton IV  (Ciarrai); sister, Mary Smith (Shawn); grandchildren David, Shawn, JR, Bram, Mikhail, Kory, Quint, Elliot, Kristin, Alexa, Kimberlie, Krystal, Corisa, Amber, Taylor, and Katie, a great-granddaughter Kaia, his beloved puppies Brutus and Ziva and numerous dear family and friends who will miss him deeply.

David was predeceased by his beloved wife, Patricia E. Sims; his parents; and his sister, Barbara.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Route 9/Marion Ave), Saratoga Springs, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Saint Clement's Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY. Following the Mass, David will be laid to rest beside his wife at Saint Peter’s Cemetery, 150 West Avenue, Saratoga Springs, NY.
