David Morris Obituary

David W. Morris (88) of Saratoga Springs passed away on January 13, 2024 at home.

Born in Albany, David graduated from Albany Law School in 1961 and was a practicing attorney for more than 60 years. In 1973, David became Executive VP and Director of Saratoga Harness track.

In 1974, he became the Saratoga Harness Track President, a position he held until 1987 when the track was sold. David served on the Albany Law School Board of Trustees for many years and was awarded the Board of Trustees’ Gold Medal Award in 1991. In 2021, David was inducted into the Saratoga Harness Hall of Fame. He was a board member of Harness Tracks of America and served as chairman of the US Trotting Association’s Rules Committee, a position he took great pride in holding. David was an avid golfer who played on courses all over the world. He was a great storyteller who could recall with detail each case he tried. He was quick-witted and always had a humorous overtone to his conversations.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Brenda S. Morris, and his seven children, David Morris, Nancy (Bill) Flores, Kathleen (Robert) Hinckley, Karen (Rob) Hilton, Caroline (Clyde) Lounsbury, Suzanne Morris and Jennifer(Keith) McKeever, grandchildren Rachel (Tyler) Ross, Megan Morris, David (Daphne) Flores, Thomas Flores, Sarah (Brendan) Phillips, Jared Flores, Keira (Jonathan) Fazioli, Lauren Morris, Emily Kowalczyk, Zachary Hinckley, Bradley Kowalczyk, Anna Flores, Claire Kowalczyk (Taylor Simon), Daniel Hinckley, William Hilton, Leah Hilton, Camryn Lounsbury, Connor Lounsbury, Cooper Lounsbury, great-grandchildren Garrett and Chase Hodgson, Benjamin, Eleanor, and Charlotte Ross, Theodore and Oliver Fazioli, Harrison Jenkins and Aurora Flores, Leo Morris, and Freya Phillips.
