Daniel "Dano" Patrick Tompkins

Daniel (Dano) Patrick Tompkins, 62, of Delmar, NY passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 8, 2021.

Dano was born on July 30, 1958 to Kenneth and Jeanne Tompkins. He grew up and attended school in Delmar, NY.

Dano had a large family made even larger by the family of friends he shaped for himself in Hawaii where he lived for over 20 years. His quiet demeanor and big smile made him lovable to all who knew him.  Dano followed in his father’s footsteps both as a sheet metal worker and with his love of Saranac Lake. Like his father, Dano had a love of building and fixing things. Working on his camp in Saranac was where he found solace with both his family and his neighbors. Dano will be remembered every time the Yankees play as he was an avid fan. Dano cherished his own time playing ball with the Delmar Derelicts.

Dano leaves behind his loving mother, Jeanne (Lawlor) Tompkins; and his many siblings, Kenneth (Sherri) Tompkins Jr., Gregory Tompkins, Marylou (Robert) Drouin, Harry Tompkins (Jeanette), Stephen (Mary) Tompkins, Michelle Knickerbocker (Terry), Peter (Jennifer) Tompkins, Joann (Theodore) Gross and Jennifer (Jonathan) Carlson. He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth. 

A mass service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at St Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl, Delmar, NY 12054. 

Family and friends may call from 6 pm to 8 pm on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave., (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.) Saratoga Springs, New York.

Due to the ongoing public health concerns of COVID-19 social distancing as well as mandatory wearing of a face mask is required.
