Daniel R. Sullivan

Daniel R. Sullivan, age 70, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital with his family by his side.

He was born on November 25, 1950 in Corinth, NY.  Son of Thomas Sullivan Sr. and Theresa Smith.

Dan worked as a custodian at the Saratoga Springs High School for many years prior to retiring in 2018.   Dan proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1969 to 1975.

Dan loved to go golfing with his friends and family and would go to the Saratoga Racetrack often while it was open, and when it was not, he would go to OTB to bet some more.  He was a past Commander of the Saratoga American Legion Post 70 and loved to travel all over with them.  Dan was a member of the Saratoga Wilton Elks Lodge and the Italian American Club.  The one true passion he had was his love of music, which consisted of an amazing collection of vinyl records, CD’s and cassette tapes.  Rock and Roll was above all his favorite genre, but his collection ranged from the Beatles to Motley Crue.  Every family gathering was filled with music played by DJ Dan and of course the “Name that Tune” game was a must for all to participate.  

Dan is survived by his beloved loving wife of 48 years, Kathleen Sullivan; mother Theresa Sullivan; daughters, Jennifer McCarthy (Edward), Shannon Henderson (Daniel), Kellie Roberts (Travis); sister, Patricia Turner; grandchildren, Nathan Roberts, Brooke Roberts, Casie Henderson, Jason Henderson, Ally McCarthy, Caitlin McCarthy, Riley McCarthy, Daniel Cummings, Aimee Sarro; many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his father Thomas Sullivan Sr.; daughter, Michele Sarro; brothers, Thomas Sullivan Jr. and James Sullivan.

Family and friends may call from 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.) Saratoga Springs, NY. 

Interment with military honors will be private on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
