Maynard Bowman, age 75, passed away on September 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Lenoir, North Carolina on February l, 1948 to Billie Palmer Bowman and Clyde Bowman, Sr.
Maynard graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1970. He later attended graduate school at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He worked as an economist for consulting firms in the Washington, D.C. area and later moved to Saratoga Springs, New York. Maynard worked at the New York State Department of Public Service for twenty-seven years prior to retiring.
Maynard is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Susan RelyeaBowman, and his daughter, Dr. Flannery Bowman of Durham, North Carolina. He had many lifelong friends with whom he shared countless adventures. He was an avid college sports fan, always supporting his beloved Carolina. He was a devoted father who loved to travel the world with his family.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. B. Frazier Taylor and staff, Dr. Edward Liebers and staff as well as his caregivers for their kindness and compassion. The family would also like to thank Maynard's dear cousins and friends, both near and far, for being a loving presence throughout his life and for offering him comfort and support throughout his lengthy illness. We are forever grateful.
Calling hours will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at Compassionate Care Funeral Home, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in memory of Maynard may be made to Community Hospice of Saratoga Springs or the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
