Claire Beth Bishop age 57, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at home with her children and four-legged friends by her side.
She was born on July 30, 1965 in Chicago, IL as the daughter of Samuel and Josephine (Lutt) Goldman. Claire graduated college in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in European History at SUNY Oneonta. A career with JCPenny brought her to the Capital Region, and while raising her family she transitioned her career to work as an Assistant PreSchool Teacher at the Saratoga Regional YMCA for 12 years, and later at the Saratoga County Department of Social Services.
Claire adored working with her students and was passionate about advocating for children. She was known for being an incredible parent, her infectious smile and laugh, her tenacity, as well as her sense of humor. Her children, Katie and Alex, were the absolute light of her life; the three of them stuck by each other’s side through thick and thin. She taught them to unconditionally love one another, among innumerable life lessons along the way.
Claire truly reveled in the simple things in life. She enjoyed being creative, relaxing with a good book, late night conversations with her daughter, and taking walks with her beloved dog Norman.
She is survived by her children, Katherine (Katie) and Alexander (Alex) Bishop of Ballston Spa, NY, her two siblings, Greg Goldman and Karen Melici, and her nephew Paul Melici.
A celebration of life will be held in late October/early November to honor Claire’s memory. More details are forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, we suggest making donations in her name to Saratoga Center for the Family and/or Wellspring.
