Charles Martin Obituary

Born in Adirondack Mtns to parents Stanley & Mary (Hough) Martin of Tupper Lake, NY. Siblings Bill Martin / Linda (Martin) Cesare all deceased. Raised in Tupper Lake, NY. Graduated from TLHS in class of "69".

Named after uncle Sherwood Charles Hough , USMC Korean War Vetran. Chucky voluntarily enlisted at 17. Was accepted by USMC on September 8, 1969. 10 days before turning 18.

"To fight against the spread of communism" in Vietnam.

Chucky was trained for covert ops communications and front line combat recon. Due to his athletic and mental agilities to become a mapscourseman. Additional Rifle Expert w badge.  Touring as a first combat responder. Front end  radio operator solo duties to carry out missions. He worked with all branches of military from the front line . Deepest respects for the helicopter pilots he considered his HEROs. Dropped in heavy combat areas during 1970/71.  Earning him several medals, badges, ribbons for his covert ops in Vietnam . His life after " NAM "continued in the same fashion upon returning home. Mysterious , highly charged, ellusive in all his days lifelong. His adventurous lifestyke left impact on all who knew him . Leaving a trail of memories in his wake.

 He returned to Tupper Lake married Laura (Amell) Martin. Had 2 children Angee Lee Martin & Jessee Sherwood Martin.

Became a heavy equipment operator and self employed (subcontracting various types of work ;)

He loved music, played the saxophone . Will be remembered for his frequent impulse to entertain . Quick wit and humor.

Weightlifting /arm wrestling held NYS titles for both dead lifting, arm wrestling. Continous competing on state/ world championship tournament levels.

 " He would rather laugh with sinners then cry with saints"

Around 1980 he was kicked out and banned from Tupper Lake . Chalked it up to "small town politics" Ventured off to Florida.

He enjoyed boxing . Joined a "Fight club" he was a proud member of for many years. Traveled extensively across the USA keeping his title.

Moving back to Malta, NY in the last 20 yeras. He was ready to settle down from his highly active lifestyle and athletic sport endeavors.

Spending time with neighbors, friends and family. Holding poker Sunday in his home. Got a pet, MOLLY his beloved dog RIP.  He lived… he laughed… he fought…traveled all over the world. Loved attending parties or social events. Known as an "EPIC" one man entertainment.  Having a very diverse and exciting life… his way. He was ALIVE and left his mark by memories in the mind and hearts of all family, friend or foe. His distinct flare will always burn. After 69 years of being passionate aboutLIFE.

Sinatra sang it best with… That's Life and My Way. So start spreading the News….

He is survived by his brothers Mikey & Jimmy residing in Malta, NY. Too many friends…

nieces & nephews to mention. Both his children and grandchildren. Angee Lee (Martin) Corrow, Jessee Sherwood Martin the grandchildren Chelsea Corrow, Courtney Corrow, Matthew Corrow Jr, Caterra Ratelle, Ryker & River Martin still residing in ADK Mtns.

All are welcome to attend his upcoming services . His family Encourages everyone to share any memory they have with Chucky.

It's fitting we celebrate his life & services during Memorial Day weekend inviting all near and far to attend.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:30 pm on May 28th in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.  For those of you who would like to be in the process for the to the National Cemetery, please be at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave., Saratoga Springs, NY no later than 12:30 pm.
