Carole Ann Duval

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Carole Ann Duval, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Carole, 83, of Hudson Falls, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, May 21, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived.

Born on June 21, 1942, at Glens Falls Hospital, Carole was the daughter of Raymond John Rivers and Lucy Winifred Rivers. She spent most of her life in the Hudson Falls and Hartford areas, where she built a home filled with love, laughter, and family traditions.

Carole married the love of her life, Andre Edmond Duval, and together they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage while raising four children and building a loving family until his passing in 1997.

Carole and her husband owned and operated a grocery store in Pensacola, Florida, and later owned a grocery store and deli in Comstock, New York, for many years. She also worked throughout the Glens Falls and Fort Edward areas, including at GE, and later retired from Covidien in 2010 after 21 years of dedicated service.

Carole enjoyed the little things in life that brought people together. She loved garage sales, swimming, bingo, puzzle books, and spending time playing backgammon, Scrabble, and Rummikub with family and friends. Whether sitting around the table laughing during a game or spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, those moments brought her the greatest joy.

Known for her strong will, stubbornness, caring nature, and resilience, Carole faced many health battles throughout her life, including strokes and cancer, but continued to push forward with courage and determination.

She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond John Rivers and Lucy Winifred Rivers; her husband, Andre Edmond Duval; her son, Andre Edmond Duval II; and her brother, Raymond Paul Rivers.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy (Michael) Archambault of Hartford and Tammy (Thomas) Goodspeed of Moreau/Queensbury; her son, Michael (Wendy) Duval of Fort Ann; her daughter-in-law, Linda Duval of Hartford; her cherished grandchildren, Angelia (Stephen) Abbott, Michael (Jennifer) Archambault, Renee (Eric) Mylott, Corey (Lindsay) Duval, Chris (Michelle) Duval, Lindsey Duval, and Kristi (Nicholas Ruppe) Plunkett; as well as her beloved great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Hope, Kendall, Zachary, Mikenna, Cooper, Liam, Chase, Leighton, Leilah, Acacia, and Anahla; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Rivers, and her dear friend, Helen Waters, both of whom held a special place in her heart.

Per Carole’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal funeral services.
