Carl Clinton Ure

Carl Clinton Ure, 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Saratoga Hospital. Born on June 7, 1936, in Saratoga Springs, NY, Carl was the son of the late Donald R. Ure and Fannie Beatrice Morehouse Ure.

Carl dedicated over 35 years as a Maintenance Mechanic at Skidmore College, where his skill and work ethic were greatly admired. Carl began working alongside his father to run the family dairy farm in 1952, embarking on this responsibility at the young age of 16.  At just 19 years old, he served as a lecturer at the Malta Ridge Grange, an accomplishment he was always proud of. Carl’s passion for life was evident in his hobbies and interests. A collector of sports memorabilia, he was well known for his love of the Yankees, antique cars and attending car shows. Fondly called "Mr. Fix-it," Carl had a remarkable talent for repairing just about anything. He found joy in watching old western movies, listening to country music, and dancing with his beloved Dolores. Above all, Carl cherished his family, who were the center of his world.

He is survived by his sons, Charles Ure (Nancy), Donald L. Ure (Renee), Patrick Ure and Kevin Ure (Jennifer); his brother, Leon Ure; his sisters, Carol Irwin and Alice Pillsbury; grandchildren, Jason Caldwell, Scott Caldwell, Justin Ure, Bradley Ure, Cameron Ure, Greta Ure, Elliot Ure; and great-grandchildren, Zachary Caldwell, Emma Murdy, Taylor Caldwell, Isabella Murdy and Vincent Ure. Carl also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever remember his humble spirit, warm heart, incredible sense of humor and questionable timing of said humor.

Carl was predeceased by his wife, Dolores (2018), former wife, Dorothy (1983), brothers, Donald Ure Jr., Elliott Ure, and his sisters, Ida Dingmon and Fannie Whitney.

A funeral service will take place on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 12:00 pm at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9/Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during calling hours from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, prior to the service.

Interment will follow at Greenridge Cemetery, 17 Green Ridge Pl., Saratoga Springs, NY.
