Betty Groves Altamari

SARATOGA SPRINGS - Betty Groves Altamari, age 94, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs.

She was born on May 11, 1924 in Ashokan, NY to her father, John Groves, and her mother, Lillian Noel.

Betty graduated from Kingston High School and went on to earn her RN Degree at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City. She was a cadet nurse in the US Navy during WWII and then worked at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, NY.

In her spare time, she was an artist and a prolific oil painter.

Betty is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey (Janet) and Christopher (Susan) Altamari; and her grandchildren Kate (Devon) Schwartz, Dominique Altamari, and Skylar Altamari.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband Louis; her son, Michael Altamari; her brothers, John and George Groves; and her sisters, Lillian Newman and Vivian Travis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at the Church of Immaculate Conception, 400 Saratoga Road in Glenville, NY. Guests will then be able to visit with her family from 11:00am to 11:30am following the mass.

Interment will be at 2:30 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road in Schuylerville, NY following the service.
