Betteann B. Rice

Betteann B. Rice, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Cookeville Medical Center.

She was born on May, 23, 1960, in Saratoga Springs, NY the daughter of the late Gordon L. and Theresa L. (Baxter) Benson.

Betteann graduated from Saratoga Springs High School, class of 1978.  Following graduation, she went on to serve her country in the US Army.

She was a Commissary Guard at the McGregor Correctional Facility and the Hale Creek Correctional Facility for many years.

Betteann enjoyed gardening, southern rock music, dancing and spending time with family and friends.

Betteann is survived by her children, John Rice (Tasha) and Angela Rice; brother, Robert Benson; sisters, Donna McCarthy (Buddy) and Annmarie McGowan (Larry); grandchildren, Shelia Stennett, Kailin Weaver, James Rice, Kenzie Rice; her Godson, Michael VanGundy and her two dear friends Sheila and Randy, many nephews, nieces and friends.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Baxter, Billy Benson, David Gordon, Jr., Donald Benson and sister, Marie Alvarez.   

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY.  Family and friends may call from 9:30 am to 11:30 am prior to the service at the funeral home.

An interment with military honors will be held at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, 200 Duell Rd. Schuylerville, NY 12871.
