Bertha Stone, age 96 passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Saratoga Hospital.
She was born on December 22, 1924 in New York, New York, daughter of the late Andrew and Veronica Strakos.
Bertha lived a life where everyone that knew her loved her. She was an inspiration and incredible example of kindness, honesty, and strength. She loved watercolor painting, gardening, country line dancing, sewing, quilting, cooking and camping on Lake Nancy, but her joy was spending time with her family. She was and will continue to be an inspiration to us all for living life to the fullest.
Bertha is survived by her son, Gary E. Stone (Bonnie); daughter, Wendy Stone Thomas (Frank Blair); granddaughters, Kelly Stone Voland (Ken), Tara Stone (Matthew Scampini), Courtney Stone (Todd Cafarelli); grandson, Justin Thomas (Katie); sister, Josie Hudson (Ronald); great grandchildren, Myra Thomas, Clara Thomas, Ashton Cafarelli, Rhys Cafarelli, Stone Scampini, Steele Scampini; many nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her warmth and kindness.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Eugene M. Stone; brothers, Joseph Strakos, Andrew Strakos; sisters, Patsy Strakos, Anna Senecal, Veronica Priester and Helen Wilson.
A private graveside service will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 150 West Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 with Father James Ebert officiating.
