Arthur Gonick passed away on July 23, 2025 in Saratoga Springs, New York due to complications from Parkinson’s disease.
Arthur was born in NYC on April 7, 1956 to Stanley (d.1995) and Ina (d. 2017), and was the eldest of three boys. Arthur was a handful for his parents from the start. Arthur was part of the generation that came of age right after the Vietnam War, Woodstock, and Watergate, and often found himself looking for things to protest about. Throughout his life, he was an avid reader, an activist for liberal causes, a NY Yankee fan, and most of all an excellent writer.
Arthur graduated from Cornell University and eventually settled in Saratoga Springs, where he became one of the well known characters that make up the tapestry of the city. Arthur was proud of being an independent journalist covering the social culture and political scene in Saratoga Springs through a series of well read blogs that featured his significant writing and photographic skills.
The many people who knew Arthur from around town no doubt enjoyed his sense of humor, kindness, and willingness to help the careers of people he hardly knew by writing stories about their passions or the charitable events they were involved in.
Arthur also faced many personal and health challenges during his life. For those who wish to, please consider supporting Alcoholics Anonymous or Caffe Lena.
