Ardith L. Thomas

Ardith L. Thomas, aged 85, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at Wesley Health Care Center. She was born on August 8, 1938, in Belleville, Kansas, to Emery Awalt and Nellie Horkman Awalt, both of whom preceded her in death.

Ardith dedicated her life to being a loving homemaker, and her devotion to her family knew no bounds. She found joy in canning, cooking, and cherishing precious moments with her loved ones. Her home radiated warmth and comfort, making everyone who entered feel welcome.

Ardith is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, William F. Thomas, and her children: LeaEt Ordon, Timothy Shinn, Wes Shinn (Nancy), Donald Shinn (Judith), and Stace George Shinn (Tricia). She leaves behind a legacy of love and is also survived by her grandchildren: Allison Fuller (Timothy), Glen Shinn (Holly), Tia Van Avery, Elissa Kouray, Eric Eckerson, William Eckerson, Jeff Farley and Weston Farley, as well as her great-grandchildren: Emma, Alexander, Max, Harper, Maggie, Damien Van Avery, Kristian Van Avery, Lucas Kouray, Hermonie Eckerson, Mackayla Eckerson, Stella Eckerson, Aja Eckerson, Kaloie Eckerson, Jacob Eckerson, and Johnathan Eckerson. She is also survived by a great great-grandchild, Kaia Van Avery. Ardith will be dearly missed by her many friends who were touched by her gracious smile.

She was preceded in death by her late husband of 29 years, George Shinn; grandson, Justin Ordon, her son-in-law, Wayne Ordon, and her great-grandson, William Eckerson 1st; brothers, Martin Awalt, Leroy Awalt and sister, Bernadine Awalt.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on Friday, October 6, 2023, during the calling hours from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Compassionate Funeral Care, located at 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Following the calling hours, a graveside service for the family will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, situated at the intersection of Weibel Avenue and Louden Road in Saratoga Springs, New York.
