Anthony (Tony) J. Spazioso, Jr., age 84, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Saratoga Hospital, surrounded by his family. Born on March 28, 1940, in Pittsfield, MA, he was the son of the late Anthony J. Spazioso and Lenore Rodgers Spazioso.
Tony dedicated many years as a truck driver for Transcon Lines in Albany, NY. He found joy in solving crossword puzzles and savoring a hearty bowl of clam chowder; he loved good food. Tony was a passionate Boston Red Sox fan and he loved to laugh and make others laugh. His hobbies included gardening, bowling, and taking numerous trips to Maine, a place he cherished deeply. Proudly serving his country in the US Marine Corps for ten years, Tony exemplified dedication and honor. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, always being a devoted father and husband. Tony found love not once, but twice in his life. His first love was Mary, his beloved wife, with whom he shared many beautiful years until her passing. Their love story was one of profound connection and mutual support. After Mary’s passing, Tony's heart found solace and joy once again with Joan. Together, Tony and Joan shared an unbreakable bond filled with love and companionship. Joan’s love gave him a renewed lease on life and certainly lengthened his years on this earth. Joan’s family became his own and they spent many cherished moments together.
A devoted father, Tony's pride and joy was his daughter Erica and her husband Nick. He took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness together.
Tony will be remembered for his strength, his loving nature, his jokes, his smile and his steadfast devotion to those he held dear. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Tony is survived by his life partner, Joan Franco; his daughter, Erica Casey (Nicholas); his brother, David Spazioso (Eileen); grandchildren, Amber MacIntosh (Brandon) and Nicholas Casey, Jr.; great-grandchild, Gabriel Casey; and many friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Brophy Spazioso, and his sisters, Sandra Spazioso, Judy Hoskeer, and Mary Poulin.
Calling hours will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY. A funeral service will follow at 12:30 p.m.
Interment with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Saratoga Hospital for the exemplary care and compassion they provided to Tony during his stay.
