Alan Schwedt Obituary

It is with a heavy heart I share news of the passing of the loving and amazing man I was fortunate enough to call my husband and partner in crime.

Alan Roger Schwedt, age 64, passed away peacefully at home, on the morning of May 20th, with myself and his cherished friend Carolyn, by his side.

Al grew up in a family of faith, of hard working farmers, health care providers and teachers, all unassuming and sincere. His parents, Irene and Roger, taught him the value of "dedication in everything you do" and it influenced him throughout his life.

He graduated from Attica High School at the top of his class and continued onto RIT, earning a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology.  For the next 40 years, Al worked for Electric Boat in Groton, CT and finished his career at the Navy training site here in West Milton, NY. He recently earned his Distinguished Shipbuilders jacket, which he proudly wore to a celebration of his many years of service to the company.

Al and I met in 2004 while he was working in West Milton on a temporary work assignment. While we may have come together later in life, we shared the gift of incredible adventures, love & laughter ~ packed into 22 wonderful years together. A popular remark between family and friends was, “Where in the world are Al and Robin, now?”  Many friends & wonderful memories were made on our travels to Europe, cruising the Caribbean, Myrtle Beach, Florida & beyond.

Al’s kind, loving smile touched all who knew him ~  He truly was a one of a kind person who lived life fully. His dedication to life was evident in time spent with family and in all of the many friendships he cherished.

He is lovingly remembered by: his mother, Irene Schwedt; his sister Sharon Spencer, nephews Aaron, Evan, Josh(Shirley), Mckayla & Tyler, all of Varysburg, NY; his wife, Robin Carnevale Schwedt; our children, Kevin, Jeslyn, grandchildren Brooklynne, Addyson & Austin; our furry pal, Georgie, The Corgi, all of Saratoga Springs, NY; his treasured family and friends from around the world ~ he was so fond of all of you.  He never ran out of stories of time spent & adventures shared.

Join us in a celebration of his extraordinary life.  Please bring your best ‘Al’ stories and photos to share ~ we know there are many!  Saturday, July 18th, 1pm-6pm, 14 Greenfield Manor, Porter Corners, NY 12859
