Alan E. Liggett, 72, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 3, 2024. Born on December 26, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio, Alan was the cherished firstborn of Geneva and Irving Liggett and the eldest of four siblings.
Alan was a true social butterfly, bringing joy and kindness to everyone he met. His warmth and generosity left a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community.
Alan’s passions were as vibrant as his personality. He delighted in visiting bookstores, reading, crafting, and enjoying music—especially classics from The Beatles and The Dave Clark Five. Alan loved Disco Night, Groovy Tuesday, and spending time at his Day Program with Battenkill Community Services, where he participated in puppetry and narrated performances at local libraries and farmers' markets. He also enjoyed gardening, arts and crafts, singing, dancing, and exploring historical sites, forming meaningful connections with friends, staff, and his support team.
A talented drummer, Alan loved playing along with his vinyl records. Earlier this year, he passed his beloved drum set to his niece, Shannon, who leads a band. One of the highlights of Alan’s life was seeing Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band live at SPAC—a dream come true, as Ringo had always been his drumming idol.
Alan is survived by his siblings: Larry Liggett (Georgiana) of Weston, CT; Carole Liggett (Robert) of Eagle Bridge, NY; and Steve Liggett (Maf) of Arlington, MA. He is also lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews: Bryan Liggett, Kate Liggett McGirr, Alex Liggett, Shannon Tehya Morgello, Annie Liggett, and John Liggett.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alan’s memory may be made to Battenkill Community Services, 2549 NY-40, Greenwich, NY 12834 or online at www.battenkill.org.
Alan’s love for life and those around him will be forever missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
