Abdul Gooden Obituary

Abdul Cash Gooden

January 6, 1983 – July 26, 2025

Abdul Cash Gooden, beloved father, brother, son, cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:40 p.m., surrounded by the love of his family.

Abdul was known for his warm spirit, relentless work ethic, and a smile that could light up even the hardest days. A talented cook by trade and a jokester by nature, he brought both nourishment and laughter wherever he went. Whether preparing a meal, cracking a joke, or offering passionate advice, Abdul gave his all—with heart, humor, and humility.

He loved his sons, Damon and Latrell, fiercely, and raised them with his longtime partner, Tameka. His children were his pride and joy. Abdul worked tirelessly to ensure his boys had every opportunity to thrive, supporting their passions for sports and extracurriculars, and doing everything he could to help shape them into dynamic, well-rounded young men.

He is survived by his sons, Damon and Latrell; his parents, Ernest and Mary Gooden, who raised him with unconditional love; and his siblings Marcus, Brittany (Kimani Embden), Ericka (Steven Senholtz), and Khalee Gooden. Abdul was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews who lovingly called him “The Lecture,” because his advice came with fire, heart, and a deep belief in their potential. He wanted the best for them and wasn’t shy about saying so. He also leaves to mourn a host of cousins, his grandmother, and many aunts and uncles who cherished him deeply.

Abdul kept you on your toes. One moment he’d offer deep reflection, and the next, he’d turn a simple phrase into a full-blown dance routine. Who else could break into his signature “rubber-band knees” move to “Pick Up the Pieces,” legs bouncing like jelly, making everyone laugh until their sides hurt!

Throughout his life, Abdul called many places home—including Boston and New Jersey—always staying close to family and finding purpose in the kitchen. No matter the city, he built community through food, laughter, and hard work. In recent years, he worked at Angelina’s Pizzeria alongside the Auchman family, childhood friends who embraced him like one of their own. That kitchen was more than just a job—it was a second home filled with love, loyalty, and lifelong bonds. Abdul remained devoted to his work until the very day he was hospitalized.

To his family and friends, Abdul was a character—one of one. His booming laugh, big emotions, and fierce loyalty will live on in the people he touched.

Though he’s no longer with us, Abdul’s spirit lives on in our memories, our dance moves, our stories, and every meal shared in his honor.
