It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Lee Allen Sr. announces his passing on June 8, 2018, at the age of 75 years.
Born on February 6, 1943, in Orange, Massachusetts, Walt was the son of the late Rutherford Allen Sr. and Ellen Emmett Allen, and one of sixteen children. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan Patricia Allen (née Harrington), and their children, Laura, Walter Jr. (Jenni), and Patricia Allen. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren, Amber Sehr (George), Toni Robinson, John Robinson Jr., Paige and Shaune Mushaw, Hope Allen, and Calin Stock, as well as his great-grandsons Benjamin and Colton Sehr, expected great-grandson Sawyer Stockwell, and his siblings, James Allen, Donna Mack, and Sandra Harrington.
Walt managed Manle Auto Parts in Mechanicville and Saratoga Springs for forty years and was an active member of the Fish Creek Rod & Gun Club. He had a great love for NASCAR, Yankees baseball, camping, and four-wheeling. Known as “Uncle Walt” by most, he will be held in memory as a fair, honest, and selfless man with a penchant for grandpa jokes.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Carlos Ares and Dr. John Delmonte Jr., as well as the nursing staff at Saratoga Hospital, for their attentive care and compassion.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, June 14, at the American Legion Hall in Schuylerville from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Walt’s honor.
