Ute Christel Milke, 88, died peacefully on March 25, 2017 at Wesley Health Care Center. She was much loved and will be greatly missed by her family.

Ute was born in Rathenow, Germany to Erna Streit, a school teacher, and Friedrich Kamlah, a Lutheran pastor, both of German families dating to the early 16th century. She lost her only brother Klaus, aged 20, in the waning days of World War II.  After earning a certificate as a home economics teacher in Berlin, she married Dr. Guido Schynoll, a psychiatrist, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1960, settling in Minnesota. After the untimely death of her husband Guido in 1973, she raised her two sons on her own and guided them both to careers as medical doctors, something she was always very proud of. In 1978 she was remarried to Werner Milke, also of Germany, with whom she spent many happy years. In her last years, she moved to Saratoga Springs, NY to be closer to family. “Omi” was an uncommonly generous spirit who loved good company, laughter, adventurous travel, and classical music. She will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

Ute is survived by her sons Gerald and Wolfram Schynoll, her step-son Ronald Milke, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

A private family memorial service is planned.
