Roy Paul Gillie

January 31, 1927 ~ May 8, 2018 (age 91)

Roy Paul Gillie, 91, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord while at home during the early morning hours of May 8, 2018 following a brief illness. 

Roy was born on January 31, 1927 in Buffalo, NY., the son of the late Paul and Hazel Gillie. 

In 1930 Roy moved to Ballston Spa, NY where he lived for more than 60 years. In September of 2016 he moved to live with his daughter Heidi in Columbia Cross Rds., PA.    Roy served in the US Army as a Paratrooper and Rifleman during the late 1940’s.  Roy was a welder and steamfitter by trade being employed by local union # 7.   He was a long-time member of the Ballston Spa Christian and Missionary Alliance Church where he served for many years as a Trustee and youth worker.  Roy loved music and was often found playing the mandolin, the guitar, or the harmonica in church services, bands, and at the senior center. 

Roy is survived by his son Daniel, Ballston Spa, NY.; his daughter and son-in-law Heidi (John) Hickok of Columbia Cross Rds., PA; and his daughter and son-in-law Cindy (Tim) Houdeshell of Sunbury, PA.; 9 grandsons; 5 granddaughters; 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Hazel (MacFee) Gillie; his wife Ann (Holden) Gillie, and a grandson Michael Gillie. 

Family and friends are invited to attend the graveside service on May 12, 2018 at 2 pm at the Powell-Wiswall Cemetery in Ballston Spa, NY.
