Rita M. Vincek

Rita M. Vincek, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Saratoga Hospital surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born on August 25, 1930 in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late John Mehalak and Anna Sikorski Mehalak.   Rita grew up in the Albany area most of her childhood life. She met George Vincek and they got married in 1951 at which time she moved to the Wilton area where they raised their children. 

Rita was a nurse at St. Peter’s Hospital and a homemaker, farmers wife. She was the matriarch of the Vincek family farm and a mother to all the children in the neighborhood, but most of all she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She also enjoyed her gardening and farm animals.  Rita had a spirit of kindness, love and graciousness that will be missed dearly by all.

Rita is survived by her sons, Paul Vincek (Lynne Cassidy), Andrew Vincek; daughter Maria Vincek Breakell (Timothy); sisters, Dorothy Hahn, Barbara Jasinski (Bob), Janet Murawski (Jack), Dolores Slezak (Julian); grandchildren, Paul Jr. Vincek (Siobhan), Karen Baxter (Brenden), Amy Vincek, Kristina Bluett (Jason), Annika Czizik, Natasha Czizik, Dana Szumowski (David), Josh Vincek (Erica), Stacia Buttles (John), Josiah Vincek (Sheetal), Nathanial Vincek (Celia), Cynthia Robbins (Justin); thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, dear friends, Sharon and Saimie, precious dog, Cola, and all who knew her, will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband George Vincek; sons, George Vincek, and John Vincek, granddaughter, Monica; brother John Mehalak.

Family and friends may call from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday, September 6, 2019 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave, Saratoga Springs, New York.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 3159 NY-9N, Greenfield Center, NY 12833 with Father Simon Udemgba officiating.  The burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 150 West Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
