Peter E. Dayter, Sr.

Peter E. Dayter Sr. of Gansevoort, age 79, passed away on April 8, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.  Born on 09/28/1938, he is the son of the late Peter B. Dayter and Elizabeth Downes.

He worked as a security guard for the Albany County Nursing home for over 14 years.  He enjoyed camping, word search puzzles, and making ceramics in his free time.  When he wasn’t helping others, he enjoyed what he loved which was listening to country music oldies and spending time with his family and friends.  Peter served his country with pride in the US Army. 

He is survived by his children; Deborah (Pete Sweet) Dayter, Pete (Sarina) Dayter, Russell (Virginia) Dayter, Delilah (Kenneth) Hulsopple and Peter (Lea) Dayter Jr; step-children, Gene (Aleisha) Vanalen, Matthew Vanalen, Robert Rothaupt and Lee (Debbie) Rothaupt.  He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger, Gary (Ruth) and Donnie Dayter; sisters, Debbie (Turk) Lepp and Joy (Larry) Williams as well as many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm, Friday, April 13, 2018 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY, Father Marty Fisher officiating. Family and friends may call from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.

Interment with full military honors will be held at 2:00 pm at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
