Patricia A McCarthy, age 72, passed on Thursday, January 18, 2018 surrounded by her loving family.  

Pat was born on March 18, 1945 in Saratoga Springs, NY, the daughter of the late Michael J. McCarthy and Rita Dwyer McCarthy.  The eldest of 6 children, Pat was a leader from the start.  A girl ahead of her times she was an individualist who never backed down from anything. 

Pat graduated from St. Peter’s Academy, and decided on a business career at Mildred Elley Business School.  Her career started in NYS as a Stenographer.  Her real quest for learning however, was when she discovered an advertisement for a three-month Computer Programming course in 1967. Pat finally found her niche in a challenging new field of Technology. She was quick to blend in a relatively male-dominated world at General Electric Corp., Becoming a well-respected and revered colleague and friend. In the late 60’s, she moved to Chelsea, MA with the Honey Well Corporation and continued to advance in her career with Wang.  She was also a Consultant for Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield.  Pat started a new career at SUNY Albany as a systems analyst for several years before retiring in 2007.  Since that time Pat has rescued cats and focused on gardening and nurturing anyone in need, whether it be neighbor, patients she met when hospitalized, or a stranger on Facebook. 

Always our hero, we will continue her legacy of love and kindness. 

She leaves behind her sisters, Nancy Farrell (John), Eileen Connor (Dan); brothers, Michael J. McCarthy (Tracy), John T. McCarthy (Susan) and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. 

She is preceded in death by, Michael J. McCarthy, Rita H. McCarthy, Maureen Salvatore and Christina Green.  

Family and friends may call from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, New York.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Clements Roman Catholic Church, 231 Lake Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.

Interment to follow in St. Peters Cemetery 150 West Ave. Saratoga Sp. NY.
