SARATOGA SPRINGS – Norman J. LaPointe Jr., age 86, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Albany Medical Center.

He was born on June 22, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, the son of the late Norman J. Lapointe Sr. and Ida Henry LaPointe.

In Norman’s early years he grew up in Schenectady.  He was an extremely accomplished Designer at the General Electric in Schenectady for many years before retiring in 1996.  In his spare time, he was an avid reader, loved woodworking; he could build just about anything, but he especially loved painting, he was an artist with a colorful character.   His inspiring presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to have known him. 

Norman is survived by his beloved wife Dolores “Dee” of 37 years; son, Michael Capella of Maryland; daughters, Ann Capella of Denver Colorado, Janine Fraleigh (Shawn) of Alberta, Canada; step-children, Victoria Pruyn of Glenville, New York, Hendrik Pruyn of Malta, New York, John Pruyn of Latham, New York, Carolyn Kronick (Steven) of Guilderland, New York; twelve grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by two brothers, John LaPointe and Ronald LaPointe.
