Marie Montero, 74, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born on May 27, 1943 in Glens Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Albert E. and Edith D. (DeLong) Durkee.

Marie grew up in Hudson Falls and attended Hudson Falls Schools.

She was a homemaker and worked as a certified nurse’s assistant at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home for many years.  She unselfishly devoted a lifetime to caregiving and the health and well-being of so many who will remember her patience and compassionate heart.  Marie’s pastimes included crocheting, crafting, and cooking.  She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. 

She leaves a daughter Teresa Montero of Argyle; three sons John Montero and companion Amber of North Carolina, Dr. Robert Montero and wife Archana of Georgia, and Dr. Anthony Montero and wife Heather of North Carolina; three brothers Richard Durkee and wife Lena of So. Glens Falls, Edward Durkee and wife Theresa of Glens Falls, and Donald Durkee and wife Susan of Hudson Falls; five grandchildren Harper, Sophia, Natalie, Leela, and Arya; several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Moss Street Cemetery in Kingsbury.
