Marguerite E. Clancy

October 31, 1921 ~ October 29, 2017 (age 95) 95 Years Old


Marguerite E. Clancy slipped away peacefully from her home on 10/29/17 with loving family at her side. 

Marguerite was born in Saratoga Springs, NY to Etta (Scoltock) and Harry Clancy on 10/31/1921. 

She took delight in her Halloween birthday and would have been 96.

Marguerite graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 1939 and was employed in the office of the Saratoga Vichy Company for over 45 years.  She was a long-time communicant of Bethesda Episcopal Church.  Marguerite had an artistic soul that she expressed through painting, ceramics and many types of needlework including knitting, crochet, needlepoint, and embroidery. Her loved ones continue to be warmed by her sweaters and afghans. She also loved bowling. In addition to her participation in many leagues, she often served as the secretary and treasurer, keeping meticulous records. Marguerite was an avid reader, and loved to travel.  Some of her destinations included Jamaica, Scotland, Switzerland and Alaska. Marguerite also loved animals and was happiest with a cat on her lap and a dog by her side.

Marguerite (Aunt Mimi) is survived by her nieces, Marguerite (Richard) Massey of Billerica, Mass., Shelley (Randy Morehouse) Murphy of South Glens Falls, NY, Linda (Larry)Blue of Lenoir City, Tenn., Suzanne Sheehan of Cohoes, NY, Marguerite (Roger Corriveau) Clancy of South Hadley, Mass and her nephews Robert (Lisa) Clancy of Rowe, Mass. and Michael Clancy of South Hadley. She is also survived by her sister in law, Constance Clancy of South Hadley, Mass.   She leaves behind 11 grand nieces and nephews, Amanda (Matt) Lee of Burlington, Mass., Carolyn Massey of Billerica, Mass., Sam Murphy of Saratoga Springs, NY, Megan (Monroe) Johnson of Conway, SC, Rachel (Randall) Horne of Marshville, NC, Hunter Blue of Lenoir City, Tenn., Karissa Sheehan Clairmont and Devin Sheehan of Cohoes, NY, Aaron(Jessica) Soule of Andrews AFB, Maryland and Sean and Liam Clancy of Rowe, Mass and 5 great grand nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister and brother in law, Etta Marie (Clancy) and Arthur C. DeGarmo of Cohoes, NY and by her brother, Robert Clancy of South Hadley, Mass. 

At Marguerite's request, there will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Gurn Spring Cemetery, Wilton, NY.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to Community Hospice of Saratoga for their loving care and support during Mimi's final weeks.
