Saratoga Springs, NY - Manuel Medeiros Cabral, 93, of Dandelion Drive passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Wesley Health Care Center.
Born on January 5, 1925 in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of John and Thomasina (Medeiros) Cabral.
He grew up in New Bedford, MA and was a graduate of New Bedford High School. He then enlisted in the US Navy where he served from 1943-1946 as a Pharmacist Mate and then served in the Navy Reserve attaining the rank of Lieutenant.
Following discharge from the US Navy, he attended Northeastern University, earning a Degree in Science. He then earned his Master’s Degree at Bridgewater College.
He was a teacher at the Syosset High School in Syosset, NY for more than 30 years, retiring in 1980.
In retirement, he lived in Dunnellon, FL until moving to Saratoga Springs in 2017.
He enjoyed woodworking and furniture making and was a lifelong Episcopalian.
He is pre-deceased by his first wife Mildred (Hacking) Cabral and his second wife Marguerite (Ruroede) Cabral.
He leaves two daughters: Martha McQuigge and husband Jeffrey of Wilton, NY and Marianne Broere and husband Mark of Westerville, OH; as well as three grandchildren Amy, Thomas, and Matthew.
A Funeral Services will be held at 10 am Friday, November 30, 2018 at Bethesda Episcopal Church, 41 Washington St, Saratoga Springs, NY.
Interment with military honors will be held at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY following the service.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, Nov 29, 2018 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Avenue (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY.
