John R. Leslie

SARATOGA SPRINGS - John R. Leslie, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 30, 2018.

He was born on January 27, 1959 in Gloversville, New York, the son of Lois Wurl Leslie and the late Ronald Leslie.

John was raised in Johnstown in his early years.  He worked for over 30 years at the Saratoga Raceway.  His love and compassion for horses was his life and he had an absolute love and devotion to animals.  In his younger years John’s passion was driving and training harness horses.  He enjoyed his success with many, including his horses, Ashcanwyn and Plowhand.  John enjoyed cooking, fishing and being outdoors.  He was an exceptional chef, pleasing his family and friends with his delicious creations.  He loved experimenting with recipes, especially preparing vegan dishes for his daughter Bri. 

John is survived by his partner and best friend of 34 years, Lynne and their two children, Casey and Brianna; mother, Lois and siblings, Chris (Don Ward), Donald (Wendy), Robert Leslie, Charlene (George Musloff); and his four-legged companions, Lacy and Dedo. 

He is preceded in death by his father Ronald Leslie.

A funeral service will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and./or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, New York.  Family and friend can call from 5 pm to 6:45 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
