John A. Hannan, age 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Wesley Health Care Center.
He was born on November 7, 1930 in New York, NY, the son of the late John A. Hannan and Emily Safire Hannan.
He worked as an aircraft mechanic for JFK Airport in New York city for 32 years before retiring in 1986. John proudly served with the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant assigned to the Strategic Air Command and he was an active member of the American Legion, Seaford, NY. He will be remembered by his family as a selfless man with a giving and gentle spirit. He was well respected, compassionate and devoted to his beloved wife Luz and his family. He appreciated a good conversation and was generous with advice.
He is survived by her beloved wife Luz D. Hannan; son, John A. Hannan III and his wife Kathy; daughter, Emily Green and her husband John; grandchildren, Jackquelin Green Smith and her husband Erick, John A. Hannan IV, Kathleen Hannan and many friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his four brothers and four sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Compassionate Funeral Care, 402 Maple Ave. (Rte 9 and/or Marion Ave.), Saratoga Springs, NY, Father Marty Fisher officiating. Family and friends may call from 11:30 am to 1:45 pm at the funeral home prior to the service.
Interment with military honors will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
