Gloria Rita Byers

WILTON – Gloria Rita Byers, age 92, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2018 at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs, NY.  Formally from Plainview, NY. 

She was born on November 9, 1925 in Yonkers, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph Pericolo and Rose DiDonato Pericolo.

Gloria was truly one-of-a-kind, both beautiful and glamorous.  Those who met her were truly impressed by her wonderful personality and kind, loving heart.  Gloria was a devoted and loving wife to her late husband, Ralph Edwin Byers.  Her greatest love in life was family.  Nothing gave her more pleasure than being with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, celebrating holidays, family birthdays, preparing special meals (she was a great cook), and spending loving moments together.  She felt truly blessed and was very proud of her beautiful family.

She is survived by her five children, Ralph Byers, Stephen Byers (Karen), Ronald Byers (Denise); her daughters, Linda Pelletier (Gary), Susan Matthews (Chris); her grandchildren, Jennifer Hale (Heath), Stephen Byers, Katherine Byers, Ralph Byers Jr. (Merri), Thomas Pelletier, Brittany Matthews, Larissa Matthews, Gina Matthews, Ryan Byers; and great grandchildren, Aliena, Emaleigh, and Sean, as well as many friends who will miss her dearly.

Gloria loved to laugh and dance.  Music moved her soul, and she thoroughly enjoyed listening to Dean Martin, Glenn Miller, and Englebert Humperdinck.  She was an avid reader, who also enjoyed drawing, and crocheting.

We would like to thank the many people of The Wesley Community and The Community Hospice for their kindness, patience and compassion for our Mother.  She will be missed by all, and forever in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, New York on July 21, 2018 at 1:00 pm.
